Ask HN: Would you choose a web framework for financial or social reasons?
I need to choose a web framework for a long-term project, and had an interesting thought in the process.
I tried both Django and Pyramid, and technically, Pyramid is much better suit my workflow, my features and a much better to work with overall. I know I would fight against Django in the long term, because the ORM is not capable of doing one of the key features I want to implement.
So if I choose Pyramid, I will be an expert in it and technically, everything will work smoothly. However, if I choose Django, I will be an expert in Django, might have better jobs in the long term because Django expertise is paid better than Pyramid expertise. I also will meet more people, because the Django community is huge, I already experienced that!
My question is: Would you choose Django for these reasons, or just stick to the technically much better solution with Pyramid? Which is more important in the long-term?
