I always thought the people posed like that in art were leaping, or gesticulating, or marching in a stylized way. It never looked like running to me, particularly the old art. Maybe I do notice that kind of thing? The Utamuro doesn't look wrong, though. Just looks like the guy is pushing her along and looking backward.
