Welcome emails are useful for 2.5 things: - Confirming that your registration was successful - Remembering that you signed up for something in the first place - Finding useful information pertaining to the account and the service: the unsubscribe link, the TO field (for remembering the site specific extension you gave), link to TOS, etc. Keeping these things in mind would make a whole lot of my archived mail more useful.
