I'm not sure if I really have a better suggestion but possibly letting people define a login form post & the ability to store a session ID might work better. For example, have a form like this: http://www.hurl.it/ http://www.hurl.it/ Have the Destination labeled as the login form, then store the resulting cookie. I'm not sure if you are setup in a way that is practical, tho.
