Giraffes are heartless creatures
- sparkzilla 12y agoJeez, don't you downvoters know your memes? http://www.lolbrary.com/Funny/Giraffes-are-heartless-creatures/3333 http://www.lolbrary.com/Funny/Giraffes-are-heartless-creatur...
- benaiah 12y agoWhether or not they know the meme, they're down voting because memes are contentless wastes of time. They're against the HN guidelines - as is complaining about down votes.
- sparkzilla 12y agoWhatever. I don't get how two downvotes of -4 comes to -60 karma points though.
- corin_ 12y agoHN locks the visible count at -4 even if the real count goes below that. Now that comment scores are private (i.e. you can only see scores for your own comments) I'm not sure why they wouldn't change that feature though.
- reallyreallyno 12y agoOne of the worst things about the internet is folk who 1. Make a bad/irrelevant joke 2. Get downvoted for it 3. Assume that the downvotes occur because people didn't get the joke That goes double on a place like HN which discourages such posts, but even on reddit, sometimes folk just won't think your damn joke/reference is funny!
- dghughes 12y agoJust be glad nobody mentioned long horses. Yet.
- pselbert 12y agoPerhaps your comment is a reference to something that I don't know about, or a sarcastic quip. However, it is in direct conflict with the substance of the article: "Female giraffes, for example, have been found to form close friendships with one another that can last for years, while mother giraffes have displayed signs of persistent grief after losing their calves to lions." In fact, the emotional behavior of giraffes is a focal point of the article.
- ufo 12y agoits a reference to this image, btw: http://viciulgandirii.files.wordpress.com/2012/03/giraffes-are-heartless-creatures.jpg http://viciulgandirii.files.wordpress.com/2012/03/giraffes-a...
