The silver lining here is that as these breaches become more and more common businesses and financial institutions will be forced to get more serious about security. Chip and pin can't come to the U.S. fast enough.
- ryandrake 12y agoNah, they'll just go about their business after offering everyone a year of free credit monitoring, and wait for the next security breach. Nobody from these negligent companies are going to jail, so none of them are going to change the way they handle security.
- sswaner 12y agoYou obviously do not work for a company like JP. Fear of jail is not the only motivator to address the gaps that led to this breach. There are likely hundreds of people there who are intensely motivated and now assigned to address this, driven by professionalism to work as quickly as possible.
