Would you mind elaborating on the "dual motor" aspect? That would be down from 4 motors?

- icelancer 12y agoCould be like the dual-engine Tiburon.
- ilkhan4 12y agoDual motor would make it AWD. The current Model S is a single motor RWD.

- kogir 12y agoThe current Model S only has one motor.
- foobarian 12y agoThe frame on display in their showroom seems to have two motors in the back, except one of them acts as a generator (for regenerative braking). Maybe they changed the power routing to let it drive as well? Sounds like too small a change for such a fancy rollout.
- joshmlewis 12y agoThis is just speculation but I doubt only one side handles the regenerative braking. If you think about it that wouldn't really make sense. The dual motor would come into play making it an AWD car instead of just RWD, that seems more plausible.
- __david__ 12y agoThere is one motor. The other large cylinder (that does look just like the motor) is the inverter: it turns the DC from the batteries into AC for the motor.
- beltex 12y agoThe Model X is dual motor all wheel drive. So maybe it's being ported over to the Model S. Musk speaking about it below. http://youtu.be/2cpe0stVtLA?t=3m25s http://youtu.be/2cpe0stVtLA?t=3m25s
