Ah the beauty of the "free" market... Funny how the market needn't be regulated when it comes to controls, consumer rights and the such, but suddenly when the fat cats are losing their cash cow, we are in dire need of some regulatory intervention.

If you read just eight sentences in, you'd know that argument makes no sense. Net metering is not a free market solution, and has been imposed by governments. The "fat cats" are fighting to remove regulatory intervention. The exact opposite of what you are claiming.
