I bought a tablet PC for this purpose (OneNote is so freaking great) but have still had instructors claim that it would be too much of a distraction. I'm a grown man. I think at this point in my life, I both know how best I learn and possess the discipline to stay focused on class. Having electronic versions of my notes plus the ability to draw diagrams or use multiple colors/highlights is really, really awesome. It beats the hell out of doing the same with paper plus half a dozen pens/markers/highlighters.
