Ask HN: Selected for Microsoft Interview, which department to choose?

Hello Guys, A friend of mine has been selected for Microsoft technical interviews for both IDC and IT departments. There's a dilemma because there's choice to appear in only one of them. I'm in need of suggestions of where to apply and why? Thanks
