I have a laptop, and as such tend to use it on-the-go. As such, backups won't capture anything after the last time I had access to my backup volume. Also, again, I don't always have access to my backup volume. I'm not saying "I wish that they would go read-only so I didn't have to back up" - I am perfectly well aware of the need to back things up.
