Author starts by saying that this is not about labeling the unborn (or Jews, kulaks, or whoever we are exterminating at any particular time) as less than persons. Then immediately proceeds to declare that the unborn (or Jews, kulaks, or whoever) are indeed less than persons.
- jpatokal 12y agoAs the author explicitly states up top, "this is emphatically not the notion of personhood I want to discuss". He's not stating that the unborn, toddlers, childen are not human, just that they have not been socialized into personhood yet.
- bipin-nag 12y ago"Less than persons" has a different in meaning in the post. Generally when someone says that it implies person is less humane or has less of "good human virtues". The author describes it in terms of social interactions. Both have different contexts.
