I'm desperate to find this kind of app for Chinese. Stuff like Duolingo and the like are all great, but no Chinese :( But good job, this app looks great!

- jfoster 12y agoYou might be interested in trying Chinese Tutor (http://fastchinese.com/flashcards http://fastchinese.com/flashcards). (I'm the author) It doesn't have pretty photos, but it does use a spaced repetition algorithm and have the flashcards ordered based on how commonly they will appear.
- alxndr 12y agoCheck out Skritter, it's for-pay spaced repetition which also has you practice writing the characters. (Also has Japanese) Edit: oh yeah, they were previously turned down by YC and then accepted by YC, or something. Don't know the details.
- rahimnathwani 12y agoTry: Pleco (it has flashcards as an in-app purchase) Memrise (there are pre-made decks for HSK levels) Anki (try the 'Mastering Chinese Characters' deck)
- gurkendoktor 12y agoPleco is definitely the #1 app for learning Chinese vocab. The OCR functionality makes it easy to scan the word lists in your Chinese textbook, and the example sentences in the free dictionary are pretty good. Pleco doesn't really teach you Chinese in the way that Duolingo teaches languages, but I don't think that CleverDeck can do that, either :)
- fataliss 12y agoCool, thanks guys, I'm going to check all that :)
