One thing that needs some explanation is the fact that because Minecraft predates Mojang, at one point Mojang was only licensing the Minecraft trademark from Notch (even though Notch was the majority owner of Mojang). (If you look at the bottom of minecraft.net you will see: "Mojang © 2009-2014. "Minecraft" is a trademark of Notch Development AB") I hope that MS's lawyers were smart enough to make sure they were actually buying Minecraft and not just a license...
