>What about the other editions of Minecraft? Will they stop being developed?
>There’s no reason for the development, sales, and support of the PC/Mac, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, PS4, Vita, iOS, and Android versions of Minecraft to stop.
So what is happening to the Linux edition that has been fully supported since day 1?
- barbs 12y agoHaha! First thing I noticed as well!
- Joona 12y agoSo Linux is not PC anymore?
- seren 12y agoIn a Microsoft press release, you have some rights to be circumspect on how 'PC' should be interpreted.
- dale-cooper 12y agoThanks to Apple, PC is now an alias for Windows
- insertnickname 12y agoMac is PC too.
- larrydag 12y agoMy family has been playing Minecraft on Linux for over a year. I'm pretty sure the PC version works natively on Linux since it's a Java client.
- Crito 12y agoIn my experience, there are frequent linux-specific bugs. If linux support isn't something that is valued by the developers, then it may linger for a while but it will eventually rot away. https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MC-174?jql=project%20%3D%20MC%20AND%20text%20~%20linux https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MC-174?jql=project%20%3D%20MC...
- rtpg 12y agoconsidering the fact that all of the PC versions are just JARs it's probably fine.
- easytiger 12y agoJars can contain platform specific stuff too
- tremendo 12y agoThe whole answer is non-comital. "There's no reason" ... "Of course, Microsoft can’t make decisions for other companies or predict the choices that they might make in the future." And to me that signals "We don't know and frankly don't care".
