In some event photography situations, where the subject is not deliberately posing but engaged in some action, you can take a huge number of pictures and come up with only a few usable ones. I've photographed some indoor dog agility events, for example; border collies running at top speed through moderately-lit facilities tends to mean lots of unusable photos.
