Half the stories on the front page will be Apple stories within the next two hours.
The ranking algorithm will drop them off soon enough. Maybe the time coefficient should be stronger for days like today, though.

The reason the front page becomes full of Apple is because Apple launches all their stuff at once. There are only maybe 2 or 3 times a year that Apple releases new stuff. The discussions of these things are important. They shouldn't be penalised for happening at the same time.
