- DominikR 12y agoMultiple Aeroflot machines with Russian officials on board that were on they way home have been forced to land in EU countries because of sanctions. The only plane that probably would be safe is the Russian presidential plane.
- spacefight 12y agoHmm... Morales' plane coming to mind.
- gambiting 12y agoYeah but then again what was Morales going to do about it? Get a little bit angry? That decision was literally consequence-free. I highly doubt anyone would order Putin's plane to land anywhere though. Just like no one would order the air force one to land forcibly, it's just not done.
- jacquesm 12y ago'land or we'll start World War III'.
- gambiting 12y agoReally? Like what, launch nukes because Russia doesn't want to hand over Snowden? Come on, that's just ridiculous. If Putin sent his plane(or went himself on official business) to Switzerland, absolutely no one could do anything about it.
- jacquesm 12y agoWe're in violent agreement here. It was merely an illustration of what kind of ultimatum would be required to get that plane to land and I really don't see that happening. So I think if there is a formal offer of asylum by Switzerland and Russia lets him go un-opposed (which I assume they will) then he will arrive in Switzerland.

- DominikR 12y agoThis happened recently: http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-28986764 http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-28986764 The article doesn't say that the machine was a civilian Aeroflot machine, but this German article mentions it: http://www.spiegel.de/politik/ausland/polen-russischer-minister-schoigu-darf-doch-noch-fliegen-a-988914.html http://www.spiegel.de/politik/ausland/polen-russischer-minis... If search on Google you'll see that this has happened to multiple Russian officials (like Dimitri Rogozin) in the last months.
- eps 12y agoPoland's already paying for this though. I doubt they will pull a stunt like this again any time soon. http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-29154335 http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-29154335
