Jitneys (aka Jeepneys[1]) are alive and well in the Philippines. The Philippines have probably one the best privately owned "public" transportation systems in the world. Jeepneys really vary from nice little minivans to motorcycles with side cars. It was in one of these motorcycles that I saw ~12 children going home from school in clown car style.
