For CCD technologies, I work peripherally with the LSST camera group developing and testing the shutter and sensor. The sensor is going to be 3.2GP. Also, the K foundations together (Keck and Kavli) are pretty amazing foundations as far as astronomy and other pure science (especially not commercially beneficial) sciences go.
