I don't know about European labor laws or your contract, but by US standards I don't think they did anything wrong and a blog post such as this would be perceived negatively. edit: I mean no offense but just wanted to make you aware how this would be perceived by US readers potentially. US is lacking in a lot of labor protections.

Well, "being a jerk" is not a legal concept; there are many things that are perfectly legal, and still something - to quote Eric Naggum - "that you do not do if you want to be a moral being and feel proud of what you have accomplished".
