- michaelt 12y agoDo you have a source for this, that I can show to my boss? :)
- fmsf 12y agoHN did a pool last year "full time engineer in the uk salary" try searching for it. You will see that the average is 45-50k.
- ownagefool 12y agoHN doing a poll means that's HN average salary - it's relevant for the people posting here, but that's a select amount of people who actually spend extracurricular tme on keeping themselves ui-to-date, the overall average may well be different.
- tomp 12y agoReally? Although I rarely see salaries advertised in job ads, and rarely hear from programmers how much they're paid, I got the feeling that you could get about 40K as a non-junior engineer (about 50K in finance).
- gambiting 12y agoI also wish someone sent the video games industry a memo about this as well :P 50k is something a senior would make.
- mercurial 12y agoThe video game industry is traditionally a combination of low salaries and long hours, which isn't particularly attractive.
- timruffles 12y ago55k is average for Ruby in London now: http://www.itjobswatch.co.uk/default.aspx?page=1&sortby=0&orderby=0&q=ruby&id=0&lid=1853 http://www.itjobswatch.co.uk/default.aspx?page=1&sortby=0&or... I'd say £70k+ for senior. Contract rates are £450+, so ~£100k a year.
- ownagefool 12y agoFactoring in tax breaks, you'll need £150k a year before you can compete with a £400 p/d contract.
- BugBrother 12y agoSalary levels at that itjobswatch site look a bit different compared to e.g. cwjobs.co.uk? (I've been considering England on and off, but am scared of the London commute.)
- collyw 12y ago£50K doesn't sound like a lot for London. Its an expensive place to live.
