I think this is awesome. The ability to deploy new OS versions, and have a full trustable roll-back, is particularly great. I'm not totally convinced about encoding a user database into the volumes, mainly thinking about network directories, but I guess the disk users will only be local static accounts anyway. Solving the network user database 'problem' properly would be a huge win (and I don't count LDAP as a solution, although a well-tuned LDAP configuration does work pretty decently).
