I don't quite understand what the problem is with the apps you have listed. Is it that because they are "primitive" and the graphics is "ugly" that they should not be popular? Or is that the rankings have been frauded in some way? And exactly how is that done? Is there anything wrong with using an existing popular game to market a new game?
