Can someone outline who the people arguing against Jeremy Ashkenas are? It would make a big difference if they were ordinary users, vs maintainers of other important libraries of pieces of software. While everyone deserves their say, this issue seems somewhat subjective, and a package maintainer shouldn't have to pay undue attention to individual users who don't necessarily represent the whole community.
