  Good news on that front: geospatial support has already passed code review and been merged into the codebase (check out this issue to learn about the implementation and progress: https://github.com/rethinkdb/rethinkdb/issues/2571 https://github.com/rethinkdb/rethinkdb/issues/2571). There are a few limitations we'd like to work out (e.g. right now the implementation doesn't support compound geo indexes), but we're well on track to shipping 1.15.
