- Albuca 12y agoThanks for the link Mike! I wasn't able to search for it on the App Store yet, but it is currently live on the Instagram, Inc. app page. Cheers!
- philip1209 12y agoI wish there was a native or web app for this - I'd love to throw some GoPro videos through the algorithm without trying to load them on my phone.
- vitamen 12y agoLooks like it depends on gyroscope data gathered while capturing video in this case. But I agree that a solution like Microsoft's not commercially available Hyperlapse solution is more ideal when you have another camera or footage already shot.
- lechevalierd3on 12y agoI had hope for my way too long and boring gopro videos...
- roberto 12y agoSomebody could make a GoPro mount that attaches to an iPhone, plus an app that records the gyroscope data in sync with the video.
- coldtea 12y agoOr GoPro could go make a GoPro camera with a gyroscope sensor. Seriously, it's a shame DSLR etc manufactures don't offer an open API.

- heyheyhey 12y agoI was wondering why you didn't link an Android version until I read the article. :( Apps coming in iPhone first is by far my most frustrating experience with Android.
- sp332 12y agoThe article was pretty hand-wavy about the API issues. Why aren't the Android gyroscope or camera APIs good enough?
- alilja 12y agoThere is a lot of inconsistency in gyroscope accuracy between Android devices. The developers of Bounden posted about it here: http://gameovenstudios.com/bounden-on-android-delayed/ http://gameovenstudios.com/bounden-on-android-delayed/
- sp332 12y agoIs it not enough to have the user run a calibration step when first using the app? I've had panorama apps do this. Edit: Bounden has a calibration step every time you use the app, and again every time it detects too much drift. If it was a quality issue, they could just warn people that they'll get crummy results if they have crummy sensors.
- StavrosK 12y agoNah, I talked to the guys who develop Horizon, and the Android APIs and devices are very spotty about gyroscopes/accelerometers. Each device needs to be developed for almost separately, and the iPhone APIs are higher-quality on these things in general. That doesn't mean you can't do it, it's just easier on the iPhone, which sucks for us Android users.
- Someone1234 12y agoThey're getting better. But unfortunately due to the way Android phones receive updates many phones have different, older, API levels which don't support many of the features. So while they could likely make and release an Android app, expect only the flagship phones from the last 12-24 months to be supported, nothing a day older (and even a lot of phones within that window still lack the latest API updates).
- oneweirdtrick 12y agoWait don't go yet - where do you see Instagram in five years?
- weka 12y agowhere did you see MySpace in 5 years when it was at its peak? (there's your answer)
- ctdonath 12y ago"No sign up or account required." Thank you. Oh, thank you. Not that I won't, I just hate apps requiring signup when not inherently necessary.
