most of what I've since learned to see as 'coke vs. pepsi' arguments I first learned in the form of 'mags vs. cockers'. vi vs. emacs, chef vs. puppet, mysql vs. postgres, it turns out for the rest of my career the arguments would sound almost exactly the same as teenage boys arguing about play guns with the nouns swapped out.
