What if there was some kind of public/privately funded foundation that could hire open source developers to work on their projects on a part-time or full-time basis?
Something like those physicist think tanks that Feynman refused to join. Along those lines, maybe universities could have that kind of thing too.
- capkutay 12y agoVCs already fund those foundations you speak of via startups that try to sell "enterprise hadoop"
- tedunangst 12y agoI believe any of the Mozilla, Apache, FreeBSD, or OpenBSD Foundations more or less fit the bill.
