Ask HN: Does anyone know of a program that converts long text into audio format?

Is their a program that utilizes a 'tolerable' voice to convert large swathes of text into audio. I think it would be super valuable in converting text like books and pdfs into audiobooks to be consumed. Anyone know of either something like this, or a good way to get this result?
