No, software engineering is a term used by non-engineers. Engineering deals with knowns. Software is a lot of unknowns. Agile is a hack for dealing with those unknowns.
Engineering study deals with robustness and failure conditions - that is, considering and preventing failure is part of the process. There are generally accepted principles in engineering that you must adhere to (kind of like a cookbook of formulas in which you cannot change the recipe - ever).
Software cannot be engineered because formal proofs of correctness are overkill for 99.999% of projects (usually things that you send into outer space require this level).
Please stop calling yourself a software engineer - call yourself a software developer or 'I write software'.
When it comes to dating - don't tell them your job title - tell them what you like about your job 'I like the power of making an app from a napkin and getting thousands of users to use it. Sometimes it is a frustrating process but I really like it..' - and then change the subject.
