No. While in check, the only legal moves are those that take you out of check. It is checkmate (and you lose) if and only if there is no legal move that would take you out of check.
Also, a move that would place yourself in check is never legal.
- Houshalter 12y agoYes I understand that. But why is it an issue, can't you just take his king in the next move? Either way he's forfeit the game.
- superuser2 12y agoHe is required to make a move that takes him out of check. If he tries to make some other move, you inform him that it's illegal and roll it back. Also you never actually take the king, you just get the point where you could and it has no escape.
