it really depends on what you want to do. If you want to do iOS dev you're pretty much required to have a mac. Mac's also run a flavor of unix so they're close

it really depends on what you want to do. If you want to do iOS dev you're pretty much required to have a mac. Mac's also run a flavor of unix so they're closer to most web server environments than windows. On the other hand, if you want to do graphics (GPU/Shaders) or games all of that is pretty much exclusively Windows based. There's nothing wrong with Windows. It's a fine OS.
