This happens at most colleges every year. It's a goldmine for dumpster divers or even just locals who don't mind hauling it back to their house and possibly selling it. I've thrown away some perfectly good furniture just because it wasn't worth hauling it across the state or I didn't end up having room in the moving truck I had rented. Yeah, I could have probably made some money if I sold it on craigslist.
