I am regular bicycle driver. We won a weekend trip with e-bikes on a contest. Although the electric motor increases the average speed, range and hill climbing I did not like the handling and additional weight and complexity of the electric bicycle. This was the first bicycle I had to pedal downhill (electric motor off). So the mechanical efficiency seems to be bad. Since my fitness allows enough speed and good range on a traditional bike (also with a trailer) I do not need the electric assistance. It adds unnecessary complexity, weight, costs and maintenance for me.
