And I love the fact that the "upgrade path" of Mac users is kind of "buy it, use it until the next gen comes, throw it away". Thats super cool and totally fits into the common starbucks customer, wearing neon colored running shoes while listening music on beats head phones.
- vten 12y agoIf one can afford it then why not? It's everywhere, not just gadget industry. People buy new models of premium cars when they come out, people buy a new pair of $600 shoes when new collection arrives. Those people don't quite fit to your description of a common Starbucks customer.
- underlines 12y agoEnvironment anybody? god damn. Do you want to throw away everything when it's still usable, just because it's cool to have the new thing?
- thatswrong0 12y agoExcept for the fact that macs maintain their value, so selling your last-gen Mac and upgrading to the new one is pretty cheap, all things considered.
- peterwiese 12y agothat's really the cherry on top of all of it. my 50 cents are, that all the ecosystem hype in the desktop space sides with os x. all the new fancy tools are done for os x and ios and android. i'm sure 99% at google, fb, github, stackoverflow etc. use macs, while the other 1% still believes that thinkpads are still the same thing as they used to be 10 years ago. and the those on thinkpads probably use linux (ubuntu, mint, elementary etc.) because honestly, who can live without a decent shell? why do windows users still bother?
