Is there a pre-existing firmware that allows me to easily create separate public and private networks? I am thinking first and foremost about x86-based ones like m0n0wall or pfsense, but it would be good to know about ARM-based ones like DD-WRT.

A lot of firmwares have this feature. I'm pretty sure CeroWRT does.
