- coldtea 12y agoWell, thanks to that "url editing" we get to know about posts that have gone unoticed before. Or posts that always get lots of new readers interested, despite having been discussed before. If anything, the "duplicate submission logic" is not needed, except if we're talking about real abuse (tons of postings of the same thing that interests noone).
- tilt 12y agoCan't actually reach the previous one, still this one is more related to http://blog.jetbrains.com/kotlin/2014/07/a-new-open-source-web-site/ http://blog.jetbrains.com/kotlin/2014/07/a-new-open-source-w...
- timclark 12y agoIt works for me, It looks like you've just pasted a ? on the URL.
- Kiro 12y agoA bannable offense in my opinion.

- bjz_ 12y agoI'm cool with somebody re-posting for a site update. I wouldn't have known they'd updated otherwise.
- Kiro 12y agoBut allowing it encourages people to game the system by reposting things that have been upvoted before.
- msutherl 12y agoIf they are still interesting, they will be upvoted again. If they are not, it will be a little extra noise in the system.
- coldtea 12y agoIf those things are interesting enough to people (including those reading them for the first time on the nth posting), to be upvoted multiple times, then it's not "gaming the system". What we should care about is if we have interesting articles to read -- and if people that might have missed something in the past have a chance to see it, that's for the better. There have beens lots of very lively discussions on the 3rd and 4th posting of the same story, and I wouldn't want those people to miss the post entirely, or those conversations to never happen. As for the duplicate poster getting points from something he knows will be popular again, well, nobody cares if he does get the points. HN is not some silly high score competition.
- chton 12y agothe original submission isn't showing up on search, and if I try to submit the normal url (kotlinlang.org), all I get is "Please try again". Calling this a wilful duplicate is stretching it.
- LeonidasXIV 12y agoI think it is about the old HN submission, which does not work for me either. It is just empty.
- hhariri 12y agoThat was the actual news, the launching of the new site.
- dang 12y agoThat earlier submission was ringvoted so egregiously that the system eventually killed it. Reposts of items marked [dead] are generally not permitted, for obvious reasons. We won't bury this one, though.
- donretag 12y agoIt looks like tilt constantly appends ?s in order to resubmit articles: https://news.ycombinator.com/submitted?id=tilt https://news.ycombinator.com/submitted?id=tilt
