OpenBSD combines two seldom used techniques. First, not having millions of lines of code written by random untrusted people. This allows them to use the second technique, which is to actually read their code.
- panzi 12y agoWell, that is not good enough. How can you proof that already read (audited) code wasn't tampered afterwards by a hacker? If you don't use cryptographic hashes you can't.
- oskdfjgfgg 12y agoI'm honestly confused. How could you think something like that? It doesn't make any sense at the most basic level. If the code is changed, people will notice because the code has changed. If CVS somehow didn't notice the code had changed, then it would not copy the changes, so the tampering would have no effect.
