I think, you are misinformed. While the standard library is not huge, it is quite ok. Then, OCaml is steadily gaining strength with Opam and Jane Street's libraries, which become de-facto standard. Personally, I see OCaml as C++ done right (minus pointers), if you need pointers, use Rust.
