Which is worse, the company name or their domain name?

- tonydiv 12y agoThis is hilarious. I can't believe someone actually chose that as a company/domain name.

- bstpierre 12y agoThe .info is icing on the cake. I worked for @Comm many years ago (www.atcomm.com) and telling people my email address was always awkward. "My email address is myname at atcomm dot com" "Huh??" "Here's my card."
- Doctor_Fegg 12y agoThis guy famously has an email address that can only be parsed one way... with a little thought: http://dotat.at/ http://dotat.at/ (scroll to the bottom for mail)
- FireBeyond 12y agoI could have sworn there was an ISP in the mid 90s whose canonical hostname for their web presence was: triple-w.dot.net.au
- krzrak 12y agoThe company was established in 2000 [1] so I suppose they wanted to go with all this "dotcom" hype ;) [1] http://www.trandotcom.info/our-company.aspx http://www.trandotcom.info/our-company.aspx
- larrys 12y ago.info launched in 2001 by the way: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.info http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.info
- larrys 12y agoInteresting that the last post on this site domainweek.com is almost 4 years ago. Not to mention that their dreamhost.com hosting isn't holding up to the traffic from HN or perhaps some other problem. Domainweek.com isn't a bad name by the way. They could probably sell that.

- larrys 12y agoFor anyone that can't get the article to come up these are the two domains they are talking about: http://trandotcom.com http://trandotcom.com http://trandotcom.info http://trandotcom.info The blog post from 2008 also talks about the .com redirecting to the .info but that isn't happening now. They both come up without any redirection.
- elf25 12y agoold story from 2008 - site hasn't been updated since 2010. URL go weird places, company seems to have fixed it or is out of business. down vote.
- gdilla 12y agoI'm so tempted to email them and ask Why, oh god why... and why not change it already. But kudos for still being in business.
- webmaven 12y agoI once worked for a company called 'DotWorld Online'. Domain was dotworldonline.com. Had almost as many problems telling people the domain or email addresses over the phone as described in the article, with people trying variations like name@.worldonline.com etc. This was in '96-'97.
