I use it all the day, everyday, and I'm doing serious things on it. I can't see how using Linux or Windows will help me better. But you're right, OS X is a consumer focused OS with a strong emphasis on look & feel. For the better, or for the worse. At the moment, and during my 6 years using it, I only saw the better.
