For this to work, it has to have at least a specific community volume, and it won't have that volume if it's buried as a link in that obscure menu up there, while the homepage of HN is "regular" news.
Power of defaults, and so on.
A better deal would be a portal home page showing some news, some Show HN entries, and maybe other sections that can be added.
- click170 12y agoHow about an option to not show them at all then? I mean, I enjoy seeing a few of them a day show up on the front page, but when more than half the front page is nothing but Show HN that detracts from my experience, though it may not have the same impact for you. If the default is to show them and to allow them to whiteout the front page, I would rather have an option to not see them at all personally, which I do think is unfortunate but that's how I feel. I enjoy HN for the news and light sprinkling of Show HN, not the other way around. Edit: fixed typo
- aerique 12y agoGive it some time, it'll pass. There's the Erlang days sometimes or whenever Apple releases something I don't want to read HN for a couple of days either.
