Lots of kneejerk reactions here. I had the same until I thought about it a bit more. In a free market these reservations should generally go to the highest bidder. On the one hand you could view it as the site being a market maker and injecting liquidity into restaurant reservations. Whether this is ethical or not is up for debate.
