In france, non-compete clauses are legal, but if the company decide to enforce it they have to pay you 50% of your salary. I think it's a good balance.

- catwell 12y agoUsually 20%, not 50%. Also, non-competes must be limited in time and space. They were initially designed for the sales force, not engineers.
