I think this makes it a great language for solo projects. You can write almost however you like and largely ignore features you don't need. The problems arise when dealing with a bunch of programmers with different experience levels and preferences. That's where simpler, more conservative languages like Java shine. C++ gurus used to their massive arsenal of options must cringe when forced to work with simpler languages.
