I was hoping this would be about not doing the whole "sign up"/account thing at all. I really hate that. No, I don't want to create an account on your website. If I can't even see the goods before being asked to "sign up", I'll instantly close the tab and go elsewhere. I really don't need another account in addition to the 30 others I already have for various sites. What a hassle. Even worse is when you need to enter your email and then you start receiving spam... And every new site you register to is another place someone can steal your personal information from. And something like OAuth is not the solution, no I don't want to use a single account for every site, I want to keep my monikers separate. Also having to manage all those accounts and keeping them in Keepass or whatever is another unwelcome hassle too. Someone that comes up with something better than accounts is a very wise man indeed.
