I used to use something similar to this to install my packages. (mapc (lambda (package) (package-install package)) '(dired+ zenburn-theme)) Until I saw this emacs config https://github.com/larstvei/dot-emacs/#package https://github.com/larstvei/dot-emacs/#package after which I just rm -rvf'ed my whole ~/.emacs.d and stole that.
