What about using the Stanford JS Crypto library through a Google Chrome plugin (in addition to SSL) for an added layer of security?
Edit: Reading on, I see that the author addressed SJCL and browser plugins separately, but I still think that most of the problems raised in the article could by solved by using them in conjunction. That gives you a secure channel for delivering peer-reviewed encryption algorithms.
