I'm a fairly new addition to the world of software contracting and I often have trouble trying to express my feelings about full-time work and the justification of the amount I charge (which so far has been below normal contractor rates). Thank you for explaining your point view in an eloquent way, it's helpful :)
- mvid 12y agoThanks! I actually came up with the idea for this post so I would have something to respond with in recruiter emails.
- mrfusion 12y agoDo you get a lot of work through recruiters? I never know if it's worth responding to them. Any tips in that area?
- mvid 12y agoNone so far. Generally they are only interested in trying to convince you to give up consulting. Sometimes they will pitch you on a contract-to-hire position, but most companies want to hire engineers on the cheap.
- edoceo 12y agoI've had a few (1/10) recruiters help me get consulting gigs. I prefer to pull my own however. You are better at selling yourself to the right gig than any recruiter could be.
